Palapa D Launch

Publicly listed telecommunications firm PT Indonesian Satellite Corporation Tbk (Indosat) is set to launch its second satellite later this month.
Palapa D1 is scheduled to be launched from the Xichang Launch Centre, China on August 31 aboard a Long March 3B launcher.
The satellite, said to have cost US$220 million, was built by Thales Alenia Space and based on their Spacebus 4000B3 platform will carry 35 C band and 5 Ku band transponders.

INTELSAT 5 HAS ARRIVED, SERVICE MIGRATION BEGINS

As reported last month, the scheduled changeover of services from Intelsat 2 to Intelsat 5 at 169E has begun.
Most broadcasters will dual illuminate both satellites for a few weeks, until all services are migrated.
Australia International advise that their new downlink frequency on Intelsat 5 will be 4160MHz, horizontal polarisation, FEC 3/4, SR 26479.
Viewers report that Globecast are now operating on 3989MHz, horizontal polarisation, FEC 3/4, SR 3500.
